This tree is the largest and most impressive of several Spotted Gums growing within Glen Huntly Reserve, along the fence at the rear of Glen Eira College.

It is a prominent tree that provides shading for the school building and over the public carpark providing amenity to the wider community and contributing to the local landscape and neighbourhood character.

As a large, flowering native tree within a large open space area of the municipality that encompasses the school grounds, a Council park and Caulfield Racecourse, this tree is a vital food resource for a range of native wildlife.
