This large, mature Maiden’s Wattle is located as a solitary specimen tree alongside the sports oval in a popular public reserve and makes a major contribution to the landscape. It is a particularly old and rare example of the species to be found in metropolitan Melbourne, estimated at over 85 years of age.

It has an outstanding canopy spread, wider than the tree is tall, and with a curious growth habit featuring a low arching limb providing a high degree of visual interest.

The tree is striking within its setting and provides amenity to the community, particularly for visitors to the reserve and spectators of the sports ground.

Given its age, health, size, and rarity, this is an outstanding example of the species to be found at the regional level.
