Statement of significance:

This tree fulfils the criteria of:

  • Unique location or context
  • Outstanding size (girth height spread)
  • Aesthetic value

This mature Silky Oak is uniquely located within Caulfield Park in the middle of the perimeter
walking track. The track has been installed around the tree, allowing park users to pass either side of it, making the tree a distinct feature of the park.

It is a particularly large example of the species for the local area and despite the pruning for clearance of overhead power lines, the tree is still healthy and impressive.

It is striking in its location and makes a major contribution to the local landscape, providing significant visual appeal and amenity to the community.
