Apply for an extension to your Certificate of Barrier Compliance due date

Compliant safety barriers that are properly maintained can save lives. All owners of swimming pools and spas are legally required to maintain a compliant safety barrier and provide a Certificate of Barrier Compliance (CBC) every four years.

If you have received a notice to provide Glen Eira a CBC but will be unable to submit one by the due date, you can request an extension of time using the below form.

We can only consider an extension under the guidelines set out in the Building Regulations 2018. The following are examples of scenarios where an extension could be considered:

  • An inspection has been booked after the due date.
  • An inspection has taken place, and the pool inspector has given the owner a list of non-compliances to fix within 60 days under Regulation 147ZG.
  • There are building works occurring on the property and a temporary barrier is in place in accordance with a building permit.

Please note that an extension is not guaranteed by completing this form, and Glen Eira City Council reserves the right to refuse your request.
