Palm Frond distribution application

Apply for palm fronds.

Glen Eira City Council's Parks Services team recognises the importance of palm fronds to members of the community during annual religious celebrations.

We source palm fronds from Canary Island Date Palms (Phoenix canariensis) located within Glen Eira. While limited pruning has minimal impact on tree health, excessive pruning can affect the ongoing health, structure and vitality of these trees. For this reason, the number of fronds available each year is limited and dependent on routine maintenance activities.

Applications must be submitted via the online form below and will close seven (7) working days prior to the scheduled delivery date.

Applications will be assessed on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to availability. Once the application period closes, we will determine the number of fronds available for distribution and allocate these as equitably as possible across all applicants.

Where supply allows, we will try to provide a minimum allocation of 10 fronds per application. However, allocations may increase depending on demand and the number of suitable fronds available for harvesting.

We will deliver the fronds directly to participating organisations. Deliveries will be during the two (2) working days prior to the start of the relevant celebration.

At the end of the application period, you will be advised of:

  1. the number of fronds to be delivered; and
  2. the anticipated delivery date and time.

Please read our Palm Frond Distribution Guidelines (PDF, 95KB).
