The Big Colour IN! 

Every day during Kids and Families Takeover 

Monday-Friday: 10am-5pm

Suitable for all ages with parental or caregiver assistance.  

Celebrate all the special places that make Glen Eira such a great place to live and play! Our giant colouring wall is filled with much-loved parks, playgrounds, streets and local spots — all waiting for kids and families to colour in.  

Grab a marker, choose a section, and help bring this big, bright community artwork to life. 


 

Festive wrap drop-in

Friday 19 December, 10am-5pm 
Saturday 20 December, 1pm-5pm 
Sunday 21 December, 1pm-5pm 

Did you know Australians use more than 150,000 km of wrapping paper each festive season—enough to wrap the Earth almost four times? This year, skip the waste and wrap your gift with planet-friendly materials instead. 

We'll have a whole bunch of materials on hand to help you create beautiful, sustainable wraps for your gifts. 

Free. No bookings required. Activity will run until supplies run out. Maximum of three gifts per person. Wait times may apply.  


 

Seniors Qiqong

Thursday 11 December

Time: 1.30pm—2.15pm

Suitable for seniors 

Experience a gentle, restorative movement session designed to ease physical, mental, and emotional tension. This low-impact practice blends slow, mindful exercises with simple meditation, offering a calming reset for body and mind. 

Seating is available for participants with limited mobility. Please speak to the instructor before the session if you have any physical limitations. 


 

Discover Collage Mandalas

Saturday 13 December

Time: 1.30pm—4pm

Suitable for adults aged 18 and up.

"A picture speaks a thousands words."

Take a moment for yourself and create a Collage Mandala while reflecting on what you need today to feel more balanced and grounded. You will make a unique and very personal Mandala that tells the story only you can tell. 


 

Native Ink Printing Workshop

Sunday 14 December

Time: 10am—12pm
Tickets:
$7 per person. Bookings required. All materials supplied. 
Ages:
Suitable for adults aged 18 and up.

Join Taungurung and Dja Dja Wurrung artist, Cassie Leatham Fisher-Patterson, for a native ink printing workshop and sharing of her knowledge of native plants. Participants will learn how to print on eco-friendly paper with native plants and create their own artworks. 


 

Live Sunday Session with Bonnie Thorn

Time: 2pm and 3pm (2 x 45-minute performances)

Celebrate the festive season with a Very Bonnie Christmas, starring the remarkable Bonnie Thorn and her hot jazz trio of Dan Witton (bass), Jeremy Hopkins (drums) and John Thorn (piano).  

All your holiday favourites with some surprises and a whole lotta fun. The perfect swinging seasonal soundtrack. 


 

Kids Drawing and Collage Workshop

Session one: Monday 15 December
Session two: Tuesday 16 December

Suitable for ages 5 to 9.

Join Facilitator Ulrike Lustig for a fun filled drawing and collage workshop for children. Be inspired and create your own drawings or collages that celebrate your family, friends or pets.

Kids and Families Yoga

Wednesday 17 December

Time: 4pm—5pm
Tickets:
$7 per adult. Bookings required. 
Ages:
Suitable for ages 3 and up

Practicing yoga is so much more fun when we do it together! Join us for a gentle, playful session designed for kids and their grown-ups. 

Please bring your own mat. A small number of mats will be available if needed — please request at the time of booking. 

Adults require a paid ticket. Children under 12 attend free. 


 

Recycled Seed Card Workshop

Ready, set, grow! Join Little Sprouts for a recycled seed card workshop! Full of hands-on, eco-friendly fun, children will use recycled paper and native seeds to create plantable cards. The perfect gift that keeps on giving!

Storytime Takeover

It’s Storytime… Takeover style! 

Join us for a lively Storytime with our Glen Eira librarians as they share stories, songs and laughter. A delightful Takeover treat for little readers and their grown-ups. 


 

Ceramic Painting Workshop

Monday 19 January

Time: 2pm—3.30pm
Tickets:
$7 per child. Bookings required.
Ages:
Suitable for ages 8 to 12. 

Paint your own one-of-a-kind artwork using unique, handmade ceramic pieces. Create your design in the Gallery, and then the team from Cones Studio will take it back to their workshop to fire it with a clear glaze—making it safe for food and water and bringing out the brightest colours!

Unscripted Adventures: Teen Improv workshop

Join Liam Amor for a high-energy improv workshop where imagination leads the way! In a fun and supportive space, you’ll dive into scenes and characters through playful exercises and games.  

Perfect for budding actors or just the improv-curious.

Off the Cuff: Adult Improv Workshop

Join Liam Amor for an energising improv workshop designed for adults keen to stretch their creativity.

Through a series of games and scene-based exercises, you’ll rediscover the joy of play and learn how to be even sharper on your feet. No experience needed.

Little Sprouts Growing Workshop

Wednesday 21 January

Time: 2pm—3pm
Tickets:
$7 per child. Bookings required.
Ages:
Strictly for ages 3 and up.

Dig in and discover the magic of plants! In this sensory play workshop, children explore plant parts, what plants need to grow, the life cycle through movement and music, and how to plant and look after a seedling. And you get to take one home! 

Adults do not require a ticket, but children under 12 must not be left unattended.  


 

Trash Puppets

Thursday 22 January

Time: 10.30am—12pm

$10 per child. Bookings required.
Ages:
Strictly for ages 5 and up.

Trash Puppets want to change the world….one puppet at a time! Facilitated by experienced puppeteers, these puppet-making workshops empower children to get creative using clean recycled, and reused materials — changing the way children think and look at everyday household rubbish.

They can then use their new skills and knowledge to create more puppets at home!
