Cr Jane Karslake

Camden Ward Councillor Karslake was elected to Council by Victorian Electoral Commission countback to fill an extraordinary vacancy and was sworn in on 11 January 2024.

 

Cr Karslake has been a resident of Glen Eira for 34 years and lives with her partner and her son. She has worked in community development and industrial relations, and campaigned to advance gender equality, public education and access to community services.

Cr Karslake has played an active role in the community for many years including participating as a community representative on the Caulfield Racecourse Reserve Trusts environment committee. She has also served as a school councillor, President of the Carnegie Community Toy Library and is a member of the Caulfield South Community House.

Cr Karslake is passionate about the role and value of local government and its work to improve social inclusion and health and wellbeing.

Cr Karslake’s priorities for Council include building a more inclusive community, increasing community participation in decision-making and taking action on climate change.
