Our Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Service is here to support your little one’s health, development and wellbeing whether it’s physical, emotional or social. We’re also here for you, because your family’s wellbeing matters too.

Our services

Breastfeeding Support Service 

If you're looking for advice or support with breastfeeding and lactation, help is available. 

You can be referred through your Maternal and Child Health (MCH) nurse, or you’re welcome to contact us. To book an appointment, just give us a call on 9524 3333 we’re here to support you.

Infant education sessions (INFANT Feeding, Active play and NuTrition)

Our INFANT education talks are a great way to learn more about your baby’s next steps. Held both in-person and online at our Maternal and Child Health Centres, these sessions cover evidence-based information on starting solid foods, healthy eating, and active play. 

There’s also plenty of time to ask questions, so you can feel confident and supported as your baby grows.

Sleep and settling outreach program

The Glen Eira Sleep and Settling Outreach Program is an evidence-based service available to all families in the Glen Eira community.

Our friendly team visits families at home to help understand age-appropriate sleep cues, sleep cycles, and creating safe, positive settling routines that work for you and your child. 

You can access the program through a referral from your MCH nurse or refer yourself. To make an appointment, simply email us at SleepAndSettling@gleneira.vic.gov.au.  

e also offer online Sleep and Settling Information Sessions just for dads. These sessions are a great chance to learn about child development, behaviour, and healthy sleep habits for babies and toddlers — with time to ask questions too.

Weekend and childcare appointments 

Can’t make it to your MCH appointment during the week? 

We’ve got you covered! Once a month, we offer weekend appointments to help fit around your schedule. 

To book, just give us a call on 9524 3333. 

Still can’t make it to an appointment? 

If your child goes to a childcare or kindergarten in Glen Eira, and is overdue for one of the 10 Key Age and Stage visits, we may be able to visit them there instead. Afterwards, we’ll provide you with a full discussion and feedback.

Enhanced Maternal & Child Health Program 

Families who may be experiencing vulnerability could be eligible for additional help through the Enhanced Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Service. This service offers more tailored support to help you and your child thrive.

Playgroups 

Looking to connect with other families and have some fun with your little one? 

There are plenty of local playgroups running across Glen Eira—perfect for meeting other parents and giving your child a chance to play, learn, and grow in a relaxed setting.

Glen Eira Council operates two playgroups specifically designed to support groups with particular needs: 

Small Talk Supported Playgroup 

Small Talk is all about helping your child learn, grow, and thrive — through play and connection. 

Designed for families with children from birth to school age, Small Talk is an evidence-based program that supports early learning, communication, and social skills in a relaxed playgroup setting. Led by a qualified facilitator, it offers a warm and supportive space for families who may be experiencing disadvantage. 

Referrals can be made through your MCH nurse. For more information, feel free to email us at STalk@gleneira.vic.gov.au.

Dads playgroup

Our monthly Dads Playgroup is a great way for dads to connect — with their kids and with each other. 

These fun and engaging sessions give dads a chance to: 

  • Spend quality time with their children 
  • Enjoy playful, hands-on activities together 
  • Connect with other dads and share experiences of fatherhood 

It’s all about building strong bonds and having a great time together.
