COVID-19 update:

On Sunday 6 September 2020, the Premier announced Victoria’s COVID-19 roadmap to reopening. Many of the Stage 4 restrictions remain in place but there have been some slight changes. Find out more here.

Online school holiday program

Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, Youth Services is unable to host the face-to-face School Holiday Program during the upcoming Spring holidays in September/October 2020.

However, Youth Services will host a range of fun and engaging online activities!

Participation in the Online School Holiday Activities is open to young people aged 10-18, who live, work or study in Glen Eira.

As you may appreciate, Council is affected by social distancing restrictions and the activities will be run on Zoom.  You will be sent a password-protected Zoom link upon registration, which should not be forwarded on.

 

If your child participates in the session with video and voice recording, your child’s name and video image will be available to others in the group.

 

You should be aware that Zoom is a third-party software over which Council has limited control. While Council has taken reasonable steps to facilitate these activities, Council accepts no liability for any loss or damage caused by unauthorised use or disclosure of information contrary to the expectations outlined in this section, or misuse of the Zoom service or platform.

 

If you are interested in participating in a school holiday online activity, you will need to register your details via Trybooking. Please note that places in these online activities are limited.

You will need internet access and a suitable electronic device to access all activities.

Join the youth services team and play the game of hilarious hypotheticals Split the Room; the game for the best bluffers, Fibbage and Drawful, which challenges players to draw ridiculous prompts. Cooking Class, Have Lunch with Us!

Wednesday 23 September, 12pm - 1pm

Bored of eating the same old thing these holidays, watch the Youth Services team pull some ‘Surprise Chef’ type moves and follow along.  This activity may involve the use of knives and other kitchen utensils. Therefore, Parents or guardians are responsible for assessing whether the activity is suitable for their child(ren) and ensuring their child(ren) is/are appropriately supervised for the activity they are participating in.  Please note that the list of ingredients necessary for this activity will be sent to you via email.


Trivia 

Thursday 24 September, 3pm – 4pm

It’s time to get quizzical! Join us for trivia and test your knowledge in all things, from pop-culture to sport! The best part? You get to meet some new people while you are at it. The winner will receive a $20 Apple Voucher!

Group Workout with Glen Eira Leisure

Wednesday 30 September, 12pm – 1pm  

Join this energetic shadow boxing and HIIT session with the GEL team. Get your body moving and the heart rate up. This is a great opportunity to get some exercise in during the school holidays, with a big emphasis on socialising and having fun! Just make sure you are injury free and have room to move. Participants in this activity will go in the running to win one of two $20 REBEL SPORT VOUCHERS!


Movie: Detective Pikachu

Thursday 1/10, 3pm – 5pm (OPTIONAL: Join a Zoom catch-up at 2:30pm, before you watch the Movie!)

Thanks to the Classic Cinemas you can have an at home screening of highly popular movie, Detective Pikachu, and watch the world of Pokemon come to life with the Youth Services team. Watch the movie from the comfort of your own home, with the option to check in with the Youth Services team (via Zoom) before the movie starts. Parental Guidance is recommended for participants under the age of 15. Please note that for this activity, participants will be required to provide an email address to Classic Cinema to allow them to create an account for you to view the movie.
