Sustainability in schools

Nature Next Door

Nature Next Door is a citizen science program that brings the community together to learn about and celebrate our natural environment.

The next round of activities will be offered from September 2020. Register your interest by emailing us.

Rentable nature explorer backpacks are now available at all Glen Eira libraries. The backpacks are filled with fun and educational tools for learning about and celebrating our natural environment. Spot birds with binoculars, track mammals at night with a flash light, inspect insects and plants under a microscope and record your findings in your very own nature explorer journal. The backpacks can be rented from all Glen Eira Libraries. They are suitable for children aged six to 12.

National Tree Day

Schools Tree Day on Friday 31 July 2020 is a great way to inspire your students to learn about the local environment while playing an active role in their community. Schools Tree Day is traditionally held on the last Friday of July. If this is not an ideal time for your school, Tree Day activities can take place on any date - you just need to register.

Council will be offering a limited number of indigenous trees and shrubs to primary and secondary schools in Glen Eira. Register your interest by emailing us.
