Murrumbeena Village Precinct

On Tuesday 3 September 2019, Council resolved to request the Minister for Planning to prepare, adopt and approve an Interim Heritage Overlay over the Murrumbeena Village Precinct.

If approved by the Minister, the interim heritage controls will remain in place, protecting this shopping centre from demolition of heritage buildings and inappropriate development while an amendment process for permanent controls is carried out.

The Council Report and Minutes outlining the reasons for requesting the application of interim controls is found below.

The Heritage Citation which contains a history of Murrumbeena Village and explains the heritage significance for this precinct is now available  below.

A planning scheme amendment for permanent heritage controls will be commenced shortly.
