On 20 February 2023, the Heritage Council of Victoria determined that the Caulfield Racecourse Reserve is of cultural heritage significance to the State of Victoria and is to be included as a Registered Place in the Victorian Heritage Register (known as H2415).

This decision is the culmination of a year long process. The Glen Eira Historical Society are applauded for their efforts to seek State heritage listing of this significant place.
Amendment C227 was commenced by Council in August 2021 to apply local heritage controls over the Caulfield Racecourse Reserve plus additional land along Booran Road. This amendment was placed on hold while the assessment for State Heritage listing was underway. Upon inclusion of the Caulfield Racecourse Reserve in the Stage Heritage Register, Council resolved to abandon Amendment C227 on 2 May 2023.
