Observing Insect-pollinators in Action — Teacher Professional Development

This workshop is designed for teachers to help them plan and establish pollinator observatories within their own schools for students to monitor.

Become a ‘citizen scientist’ and get informed and inspired about your local biodiversity.

Glen Eira in conjunction with RMIT University’s Dr Luis Mata and Leap into Nature’s Christina Renowden, have established a network of ‘pollinator observatories’ at Rippon Lea Estate.

At this workshop, you will learn how to identify several insect-pollinators, including:

  • native and non-native bees
  • flies
  • wasps
  • butterflies.

We will then visit the pollinator observatories to examine plant-insect interactions.

We can also assist teachers to implement an insect-pollinator monitoring program in their schools and align this with curriculum requirements.

Speakers:
RMIT University’s Dr Luis Mata
Leap Into Nature’s Christina Renowden
