Keeping Glen Eira Moving

Melbourne is expected to grow by 1.65 million residents by 2031. For Glen Eira, this means 30,260 new residents, 14,020 new dwellings and potentially, around 22,432 more cars if we continue to travel the way we currently do. We can’t stop this growth, but we can work with our community to manage its impact on Glen Eira’s liveability into the future.

In 2018, we adopted the Integrated Transport Strategy to chart a course towards a more sustainable transport future, with a range of benefits for the Glen Eira community — reduced travel times and congestion, better health and a decline in parking issues.

Since adopting the Strategy, we’ve been working on initiatives to help bring it to life and deliver on its vision for better and more transport choices for the Glen Eira community.

At our ordinary meeting on Tuesday 3 September 2019, Council endorsed a suite of documents for community feedback that include draft action plans for walking and accessibility, cycling and public transport, as well as a draft parking policy, and the next stage of our exploration of a Safe Cycling Corridor pilot.
