Learn to sew sessions for adults and teens at 3pm every Saturday in September. 

In these fun, free online classes Jennifer will guide you through the construction of an awesome collection of practical and beautiful homely items. Includes tips and advice on the best construction and recycling techniques. Bring your creativity and once you start you will want to keep sewing!

No need to book, just go to the Facebook event page and everything you need to know can be found underneath the discussion tab. Scroll down to see the video tutorials as they are uploaded at 3pm each Saturday or watch later at your leisure. Also view comments from participants and pics of their finished masterpieces underneath the discussion tab.

Scrunchies and headbands

Scrunchies and headbands are great gifts thinking ahead to Christmas. Jenn will show you the easiest way to achieve a professional result with your scrunchies and headbands.

Tools: Sewing machine (threaded and ready to go), fabric scissors or a cutting mat and rotary cutter, pins, dressmakers chalk or 4b pencil, pattern paper, kitchen paper or non-iron interfacing, ruler or tape measure (longer than 45cms), paper scissors and a sharp pencil.

Fabric for each scrunchie: Fabric 15cm x 1meter, elastic 20cm and safety pin x 2
Fabric for each headband: Fabric 30cm x 40cm, elastic 2.5cm wide x 30 cm and safety pin
Fabric for headband bow: Fabric 20cm x 1meter

 

Drawstring Bag

Learn to make a drawstring bag with French seams… no untidy raw edges. French seams are a great way to give your unlined sewing projects a professional finish if you don’t have an overlocker. Drawstring bags are great for using to store shoes and underwear or for taking to swimming and dance lessons — when we can!

Tools: Sewing machine (threaded and ready to go), fabric scissors or a cutting mat and rotary cutter, pins, dressmakers chalk or 4b pencil, pattern paper, kitchen paper or non-iron interfacing, ruler or tape measure (longer than 45cms), paper scissors and a sharp pencil.

Fabric: Fabric 50cm x 1meter and cord or shoelace approximately 1 meter in length.
