Dear election candidate

As a resident of your electorate, I support the Glen Eira City Council’s calls for more state funding to improve integrated transport and connectivity for our community.

We need your help to reduce congestion and encourage higher rates of active transport usage — including walking, cycling and public transport — so we can spend less time commuting and more time with family and friends.

In the Bentleigh electorate, a $4 million commitment would help deliver 31 projects which will collectively improve road safety at Coatesville Primary School, Bentleigh East.

In the Caulfield electorate, a $1.75 million commitment would help maximise the Caulfield Station precinct through improved pedestrian access, traffic management, parking and pedestrian crossings.

A business case needs to be developed for a new light rail route in Glen Eira, from Elsternwick to Clayton, along North Road, connecting East Village with Ormond Station and the Monash National Employment Cluster.

We also need a business case to test the feasibility of a Trackless Rapid Transit (TRT) connecting Caulfield to Rowville.

I hope to see you publicly announce your commitment to delivering funding for the transport projects in your electorate, should your party win government at the election.
