Dogs in our parks and off-leash areas

We are seeking input into the provision of dog on and off-leash areas across the municipality.

In 2011, Council prepared a Dog Off-leash Areas in the City of Glen Eira report.

To ensure that available areas still meet the needs of both dog owners and other park users, we are currently undertaking a review of this report. The review aims to retain existing dog off-leash areas, whilst recognising the addition of the exclusive dog off-leash park on the western side of Caulfield Racecourse.

Further to this, we have identified additional opportunities for dog off-leash areas within Glen Eira, and seek your feedback on these suggestions.

Visit to complete a short survey that focuses on:

  • awareness of dog off-leash areas and their use
  • open space areas to be considered as new off-leash use areas
  • public lighting of off-leash parks and reserves
  • public signage in Glen Eira parks and reserves.

While most of our open space is a mixture of active and passive recreation, our aim is to provide an appropriate balance of dog off-leash and dog on-leash areas — and we require your input to ensure this is achieved.

If you have any questions or wish to provide your feedback outside of the online survey, contact Council’s Recreation and Open Space department on 9524 3333 or email

The opportunity to provide feedback is available until Monday 30 September 2019.
