Brightening Bentleigh Laneway

Glen Eira City Council was successful in securing a grant through the Public Safety Infrastructure Fund (2018-19) to undertake a range of public safety improvements to the Bentleigh Laneway. The laneway runs behind the shops on Centre Road from Bentleigh Station to Godfrey Street.

A draft concept design has been developed and we would like to hear your feedback and ideas. The aim of the project is to improve the area behind the Centre Road shops to make it safer for pedestrians during both the day and night, create an environment that will increase community safety and connection, and improve the overall appearance of the area. In order to do this there will be a small reduction in the total number of car parking spaces, however this will allow the introduction of more greenery, artwork, consolidated bin enclosures and a clear pedestrian pathway behind the shops. We have worked hard to minimise the loss of car parking and maximise the overall community benefit and would love to hear your ideas about how we could make the design even better.
