The new bandstand is the first project from the Hopetoun Gardens Landscape Masterplan and will improve access and usage while celebrating the historical elements which make the gardens unique.
We have secured funding through the State Government’s Local Community Parks Program – New Pocket Parks. The creation of a new 1500sq.m park was made possible by the acquisition of a property at 6 Aileen Avenue and partial closure of Heather Road between York Street and Aileen Avenue.
The project responds to a key priority of the Glen Eira Open Space Strategy, which outlines a plan to create a more liveable, healthy and sustainable City. Once completed the park will provide a focus for local residents to meet and to play.
The park features include:
- a range of seating areas and shelter
- open lawn areas for informal/social recreation
- a nature focused play space
- variety of landscape materials such as logs, rocks and variety of vegetation.
