The 2018 My Brother Jack Awards, now in its 23rd year, is a wonderful opportunity for writing and photography enthusiasts to showcase their talents and be in the running for some fantastic prizes.

This highly regarded competition is open to people who live, work or study in the City of Glen Eira.

There are prizes for:

  • Short stories and poetry in the categories of Open, Senior Secondary, Junior Secondary and Primary School.
  • Photography in the categories of Open, Youth and Junior.
  • Early Years art and photography entrants will receive a participation certificate and small gift.

  • Poetry: Wendy Joseph and Ozlem Baro
  • Photography: judge Anat Cossen

Bentleigh and Caulfield RSL Open Short Story Award
3,000 word limit, No age restriction
First prize: $500 cash
Second prize: $150 cash and $150 dining voucher
Third prize: $100 cash and $100 dining voucher

Benn’s Books Senior Secondary School Short Story Award
1,000 word limit, Senior Secondary School, Years 10 to 12
First prize: $150 cash and $100 Benn’s Books voucher
Second prize: $50 Benn’s Books voucher

Glen Eira City Council Junior Secondary School Short Story Award
500 word limit, Junior Secondary School, Years 7 to 9
Prize: $200 shopping centre voucher

Hardie Grant Egmont Primary School Short Story Award
500 word limit, Primary School, Years 1 to 6
Prize: $150 worth of Hardie Grant Egmont books
