The Art of Diversity — McKinnon Secondary College

Tuesday, 13 November 2018 | 10:00 AM to 05:00 PM

25 October–17 November
Gallery Annexe

This display features selected folios created by students currently studying studio arts units three and four. Diversity in the use of materials and techniques is key to the success of students from McKinnon Secondary College. A willingness to experiment, be challenged and take risks is evident in the work produced. Materials generating excitement including acrylic pouring techniques using Floetrol and a soluble textile medium used to create 3D machine stitched sculptures, are included. Other works incorporate washes of alcohol inks on Yupo paper, heated Tyvek and Lutrador producing great textural surfaces and fine lacing. The combination of these diverse mediums allows the students to uniquely express and resolve their ideas as defined in their exploration proposals.
