Free access for residents to Rippon Lea Estate

If you are looking for something do this summer, why not pay a visit to beautiful Rippon Lea Estate in Elsternwick?

Glen Eira residents have free access to the gardens, which are one of Melbourne’s true open space treasures.

Residents will need to show photo identification with a current Glen Eira address. They will then be issued with a Household Access Pass by the National Trust of Australia (Victoria) that can be used for future visits.

Glen Eira Mayor Cr Jamie Hyams said that through Council partnering with the National Trust, many more people can enjoy this special place.

“The Estate, which is home to many rare plants and animals, has more than 14 acres of passive recreation space and sits within an identified open space gap area for local residents,” he said.

Cr Hyams said the Estate gardens are largely untouched from their original establishment and are heritage listed.

“This provides a very different experience to many of Glen Eira’s other parks and reserves and residents will be able to enjoy a park dedicated solely to passive recreation,” he said.

Rippon Lea Estate is open daily from 10am to 5pm (excluding Good Friday and Christmas Day). For further information, visit
