Pet Expo


Sunday 18 March, 10am–4pm
Allnutt Park — Wheatley Road, McKinnon

Bring your furry, scaly and feathered pets to our Pet Expo, which is held in conjunction with Council’s Party in the Park series.

You can:

  • learn about responsible pet ownership from Council’s Animal Management team and several animal adoption societies;
  • chat to industry experts about animal care and innovative products;
  • purchase a treat for your pet;
  • participate in craft activities;
  • watch exciting crowd-stopping animal handler demonstrations;
  • have fun at the pop-up farm yard; and
  • participate with your pet in the annual Pet Parade competition.

Pet Parade

Register day at the Pet Expo information tent prior to 2pm.

Categories are:

  • best dressed;
  • best trick;
  • best owner/pet look-alike; and
  • best loved rescue pet.

All entrants will receive a PETstock show bag. Thanks to PETstock Ormond.


Take advantage of the array of pet related products, services and educational programs on offer. See the latest in pet toys and entertaining products, pet grooming and styling accessories, pet clothing and indoor/outdoor homewares. Chat to Victorian Dog Rescue, Dachshund Awareness, Edgar’s mission and Greyhound Safety Net to get the low-down on how to provide your support to these pooches, kittens and ferrets in need.

  • Animal Demonstration Arena entertainment.

  • Watch the Command Dog Training team in action.
  • Watch Newfoundland Carting and see them explain the origin of the carting and retrieve rescue.
  • Watch Eskimo the trick pony on parade and his working cattle dog friend muster their wooly mates.
  • Touch a live snake, pat a feathery friend and learn about back yard snake and bird education.
  • Roving entertainment.

Pet registration

Are a new resident of Glen Eira with a new pet?  Register your cat or dog at the event for free. Speak to Council’s Civic Compliance team at the Pet Expo information marquee to take advantage of this one-off offer. Please make sure you bring along a copy of your pets desexing and microchip certificates.

Further park information

  • Children must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.
  • Pets are welcome but owners are responsible for their animals at all times. 
  • All dogs must remain on a leash at all times even in off-leash areas of Allnutt Park and all other animals must be securely contained.
  • Dogs and owners must remain on designated paths and must not enter any garden bed at any time.
  • Dogs must be picked up after and all waste disposed of responsibly.
  • Event may be canalled due to inclement weather.
