Disabled parking permits
We offer free disabled parking permits as part of the state-wide Disabled Parking Permit Scheme. Permits are available for people with significant mobility, intellectual, or psychological disabilities, where the disability creates a need for specific parking access.
Types of permits
The Disabled Parking Permit Scheme has two types of permits:
Category 1 — Blue permit
This permit allows the permit holder to park in an allocated disabled parking bay. It also allows parking in time restricted parking areas for twice the permitted time displayed on the parking sign. For example, in a 2P area the permit holder would be permitted to park for four hours.
Category 2 — Green permit
A green permit allows the permit holder to park in any normal parking bay for twice the permitted time displayed on the parking sign. This permit does not allow the permit holder to park in an allocated disabled bay.
A Disabled Parking Permit does not allow the holder to park where there is a red restrictive parking sign such as No Stopping, Loading Zone, Bus Zone etc.
How do I apply?
Every permit and renewal of a permit must be applied for in writing on the application form, which is available to download below.
