Carnegie Swim Centre redevelopment

With the growing demand for aquatic and leisure activities, Council needs to plan for the future.

The buildings and pools at Carnegie Swim Centre are now at the end of their serviceable life and need to be replaced.

The redevelopment of Carnegie Swim Centre will aim to keep the unique and nostalgic feel of the outdoor pools and activities in the design, while updating the facility to modern day standards.

It’s proposed that Carnegie Swim Centre becomes an all-year-round leisure facility, with a range of services for a broader section of the community.

We’re looking at including:

  • a heated outdoor 50-metre pool, diving pool and outdoor water play area
  • outdoor beach volleyball
  • spectator areas, including lawn areas, barbecues and shaded seating
  • an indoor warm water program pool and 25 metre learn-to-swim pool
  • club/squad rooms
  • accessible change facilities, including changing places and group change rooms
  • indoor cardio and strength training
  • indoor multipurpose program/community meeting room and health consulting
  • a cafe/social space

Before we start more detailed design, we are interested to hear your feedback.

There are a number of ways to have your say.

Pick up a feedback form from Carnegie Swim Centre, email or visit

You can also post comments and feedback to PO Box 42, Caulfield South Vic 3162.

The opportunity to provide feedback is available until Friday 29 December 2017.

Council will use the community feedback to inform concept design plans for Carnegie Swim Centre and the wider Lord Reserve/Koornang Park Masterplan.

The concept plans will be ready for community consultation in early 2018.
