Spring Road Reserve improvement works
Council is planning improvement works to Spring Road Reserve, Caulfield South. The project will focus on the southern end of the reserve between North Road and Remuera Street.
Enhancements to the North Road frontage will create an inviting and attractive space — and one that is identifiable as open space. This will see the existing bluestone paving modified to provide an easily accessible space, with new bench seating and garden beds. Vehicle access through this area will be removed.
Further into the Reserve trees will be uplifted to improve safety and visibility, with those in poor health to be removed. This will highlight some of the significant trees and diverse range of plantings used throughout the Reserve, and enable some areas of lawn and seating.
The project is an action from Council’s Open Space Strategy, which recommended the introduction of some social and unstructured recreational uses to the Reserve, while retaining the mature canopy trees that contribute to its character.
