Marara Road Reserve upgrade
The upgrade of Marara Road Reserve, located in Caulfield South, continues with works between Narawong Road and Booran Road currently underway. This follows the upgrade at the western end between Curraweena Road and Narrawong Road being completed in 2016.
Improvement works will see the installation of new seating and picnic areas, a fitness station area and additional trees and shrub plantings to reinforce the natural character of the Reserve.
All entries into the Reserve will be highlighted, with a new entrance to the Reserve being provided opposite Hillcrest Avenue. Future works will also include a new realigned shared pathway to improve movement, safety and complement existing uses.
These works include the creation of a social gathering space and will provide a more inviting and attractive Reserve — one that encourages people to utilise the space in a varieties of ways — where people can meet, play and relax.
The project is an action from the Open Space Strategy which seeks to incorporate unstructured recreational facilities and social spaces into the reserve so it can provide for a greater range of uses.
Current works are expected to be completed by end of July 2017.
