The Commonwealth Government’s $42 billion Nation Building Economic Stimulus Plan includes the Social Housing Initiative.
Through the Social Housing Initiative, the Commonwealth has committed funding of $6 billion for the construction of new social housing.
All Victorian planning schemes have been amended to exempt social housing projects under the Social Housing Initiative from needing planning permission.
The Planning Minister is the decision maker for these projects.
