Home>The art of Louise Hearman on show
Glen Eira City Council’s Gallery is pleased to present Hello Darkness: the art of Louise Hearman.
A renowned Melbourne artist, Ms Hearman has been creating dreamlike visions with dark and haunting undercurrents for 25 years.
A highlight of the exhibition calendar year, Hello Darkness: the art of Louise Hearman will feature more than 70 individual pieces, drawn from prestigious collections such as the TarraWarra Museum of Art, Ian Potter Museum of Art and the University of Tasmania Collection. The exhibition will also feature pieces drawn from numerous private collections.
Lousie Hearman’s art has evolved from darkly-brooding figurative landscapes to surreal and uncanny works since 2001. Her work is concerned with the unconscious and the paranormal.

| The artist’s works are characterised by strange juxtapositions, eerie light, and have a strong emotional resonance. There are recurring themes of floating humans and animals, sleek aeroplanes, floral close-ups, and limitless roads.
Hello Darkness: the art of Louise Hearman can be viewed until Sunday 2 November.
Glen Eira City Council Gallery, corner Glen Eira and Hawthorn Roads, Caulfield, is open Monday–Friday, 10am–5pm and Saturday, Sunday and public holidays, 1pm–5pm. Admission is free. | |
