Have your say — Budget and Council Plan
Published on 03 May 2017
Glen Eira City Council’s 2017–18 Draft Annual Budget and Council and Community Plan were approved at a Council Meeting on Tuesday 2 May.
As part of the proposed Budget, Council has allocated funding of $34.08 million for projects covering all aspects of community life, including open space ($8.85 million), environmental initiatives ($1.92 million) and transport and planning ($1.2 million).
These projects were identified by the community in 2016 as priority areas, through comprehensive consultation undertaken to form our Draft Council and Community Plan. More than 4,000 community members communicated their views on what they believe Council’s priorities should be.
Glen Eira Mayor Cr Mary Delahunty said that she encourages everyone to review both the Budget and Council and Community Plan and have their say.
"Consultation plays an imperative role in ensuring that the community is given the opportunity to impact the neighbourhood in which they live."
"The consultation we conducted mid last year allowed us to get a better understanding of the community’s aspirations, needs, values and priorities," Cr Delahunty said.
"We want to ensure that the community’s concerns and expectations are reflected in both of these strategic documents."
