NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN under Section 129 and Section 125 of the Local Government Act 1989 (‘Act’) that Glen Eira City Council (‘Council’) has prepared a proposed Budget for the financial year 1 July 2013 to 30 June 2014 and a draft Council Plan (which includes the Strategic Resource Plan).
The Budget contains the following proposed rates and charges Council intends to declare in respect of the 2013–14 financial year:
The proposed quantum of rates for cultural and recreational land in 2013–14 is $386,675.
The proposed total amount to be raised in rates and service charges for the financial year is $85,522,908 after the Council Pension Rebate ($86,080,282 before Council Pension Rebate).
The 2013–14 Budget maintains the total Pensioner Rebate at $270 per annum.

In connection with the 2013–14 Budget, an information session will be held for the public on 27 May 2013. The meeting will commence at 6.30pm in the Caulfield Cup Room, Glen Eira Town Hall, corner Glen Eira and Hawthorn Roads, Caulfield.
Any person has a right to make a submission on any proposal contained in the proposed Budget or Council Plan. Any person wishing to make a written submission on the proposed Budget or Council Plan must lodge the submission before 5pm on 6 June 2013.
A person making a submission is entitled to request in the submission that the person wishes to appear in person, or to be represented by a person specified in the submission, at a meeting to be heard in support of the submission.
Budget submissions should be marked ‘Budget Submission’ and addressed to: Chief Financial Officer.
Council Plan submissions should be marked ‘Council Plan Submission’ and addressed to: Director, Community Services.
All submissions should be sent to Glen Eira City Council, PO Box 42 Caulfield South 3162. Submissions may also be delivered to the Council’s Service Centre, Glen Eira Town Hall, corner Glen Eira and Hawthorn Roads, Caulfield.
All submissions will be considered in accordance with Section 223 of the Act. Submissions made under section 223 of the Act are not confidential and:
Council will consider all submissions received to the above proposals at the Ordinary Council Meeting to be held in the Council Chamber, Glen Eira Town Hall, corner Glen Eira and Hawthorn Roads, Caulfield on Tuesday 11 June 2013. The meeting commences at 7.30pm. Any person who has made a written submission to Council and requested that he or she be heard in support of their written submission is entitled to appear and be heard in person or by the representative specified in the submission on their behalf at this Council meeting.

Subject to any amendments resulting from the submissions, the Budget for 2013–14 and the Council Plan will be considered for adoption at the Special Council Meeting to be held in the Council Chamber, Glen Eira Town Hall, corner Glen Eira and Hawthorn Roads, Caulfield, on Tuesday 25 June 2013. The meeting commences at 7.30pm.
