    Green waste

    We offer an optional green waste collection service. Residents registered for this service will receive a wheelie bin with a bright green lid. Only green waste is to be placed in this bin. Green waste is collected fortnightly on the same day as household garbage.

    Green_waste_items-2.jpgThese items should be placed into your green waste bin:

    • leaf litter;
    • fruit and vegetable peelings;
    • grass clippings;
    • small prunings;
    • weeds; and
    • small branches.

    These items should not be placed into your green waste bin:

    • stumps, large branches, timber or garden stakes;
    • table scraps, meat, fish or animal waste;
    • string, twine, or wire;
    • nappies;
    • hazardous liquids or chemical waste;
    • paint, pesticides, oil or solvents;
    • motor oil or containers;
    • syringes;
    • plastic bags;
    • garbage;
    • soil, stones, bricks or concrete; and
    • recyclables.

      Need to find out when your green waste bin is collected? Then visit the collection areasand days web page

      As of 1 July 2011, whether you are a tenant or owner you can participate in our green waste service. The cost of the service is a once-off fee of $55 to cover the cost of the bin. To register for the service, contact us on 9524 3333 or register on line.

      Need more information on the best way to dispose of your recycling and waste? Then search our A-Z guide to waste and recycling guide.
