Flexible work arrangements
A variety of leave arrangements are available for certain positions. These include:
- job share arrangements;
- full-time, part-time and casual positions;
- flexible start and finishing times;
- rostered days off and accrued days off; and
- a fractional model of employment.
Our employees enjoy a wide range of in-house corporate training opportunities in diverse areas such as frontline management, assertiveness training, disability awareness, conflict resolution and a variety of others which are open to all staff.
Other training initiatives include traineeships, on the job training, study assistance and the opportunity for higher duties.
Employee Assistance Program
The Employee Assistance Program is a free, professional and confidential self-referral counselling service for our employees. The Program provides professional short-term assistance for any personal or work related problem.
Health and Wellbeing Program
The Health and Wellbeing Program is designed to assist employees to improve their general wellbeing and self-confidence. Current and past initiatives of the program include: a monthly newsletter, Walk to Work Day, the Heart Power Program, International Women’s Day, Men’s Health Lunch, over 50s workshops and lifestyle matters.
A variety of leave entitlements are available to eligible staff. These include:
- annual leave;
- sick leave;
- long service leave;
- maternity/adoption leave;
- paternity leave;
- bereavement/compassionate leave;
- carer’s leave; and
- study leave.
The Social Club Committee runs a range of events throughout the year including the monthly Happy Hour, winter soup kitchen, Pancake Day, movie nights and much more. All employees are welcome to join.
Reward and Recognition Program
We value and acknowledge our employees through our Reward and Recognition Program.
Employees are nominated by co-workers and supervisors for displaying outstanding achievement in our four key values: customer service; initiative; teamwork; and leadership. Employees are recognised at a ceremony and receive a certificate, badge and set of glasses.
Years of Service Program
Employees are also recognised for their loyal and outstanding years of service with Council in an annual ceremony. Employees who have reached 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 years plus receive a badge, certificate and small gift as an appreciation for their efforts.
