We operate a central enrolment system for four-year-old community based kindergartens in our Municipality. Kindergarten is also provided in community and privately managed children’s services, early learning centres and schools. The diverse needs of families are catered for in these services types.
Kindergarten is subsidised by the State government and all children are eligible to attend a funded program in the year before school entry.
Currently there are vacancies for four-year-old kindergarten in 2014. Please contact Glen Eira Council on 9524 3333 for further information.

To assist with kindergarten readiness, please ensure your child has completed their three-and-a-half to four-year-old check at your local Maternal and Child Health centre before starting kindergarten.
To enrol in a community managed kindergarten an application form must be completed. You can obtain a form from you local kindergarten or download an application form here. For further information contact us on 9524 3333.

1 May 2010 – 30 April 2011
An application for four-year-old kindergarten enrolment form needs to be filled in for each child and lodged with Glen Eira City Council, along with the non refundable enrolment fee of $20 per child.
Applications can be submitted in person at the Council offices, or sent to:
Glen Eira City Council
PO Box 42
Caulfield South VIC 3162
Cheques payable to Glen Eira City Council.
Applications are taken in date of receipt order from 1 May. (If 1st May falls on a weekend, form will be accepted on the following Monday.) Places are offered by date of application (the time you lodge your application is not a factor) and where the number of applications received on the same day exceed places available, offers are then determined through a ballot.
Your application will be acknowledged within a month. This is confirmation that your child is registered, not a guarantee of a place.
Where there is pressure for places, priority will be given to people who live, work, study or have childcare in the City of Glen Eira. You may be required to provide proof of address.
Each service will have a policy or guideline to ensure that children with disabilities and/or additional needs are able to access kindergarten. The central enrolment form provides a place to indicate your child’s needs.
If your details or needs change you can fill in a kindergarten alteration form.

Please note that where a parent requests a change of preference without a change of address, the priority date the application will be based upon is the date the change of preference request was received by Glen Eira City Council.
First round offers are made in June each year, with second round offers occurring in July.
Parents are notified of their kindergarten by the committee of management. If your child does not obtain a place at the kindergarten of your first choice after two rounds of offers, you will be contacted and advised of waiting lists and vacancies.
Each service sets its own fee and parents should contact services to obtain this information.
