We see community consultation as a vital part of its decision-making process. Consultation involves the community in our planning and activities and helps us to understand the community's priorities and issues.
We have adopted six steps to guide community consultation. The six steps are set out below in the attached document.

Council is currently in the process of updating the Open Space Strategy for the municipality. The Strategy will guide the future provision, design and management of public open space over the next 10 to 15 years. Open space includes public parks, gardens, reserves and urban squares.
Council last developed an Open Space Strategy in 1998 shortly after Council amalgamations, and it has positively influenced the development, policy and management of Glen Eira’s enviable parks and gardens.
In the coming years as the residential population in the municipality grows, open space will become more heavily used, and there will be a need for careful balance in future design, provision and management of open space.
Thank you to everyone who completed and Open Space Strategy Survey recently. The survey will help inform the development of a draft Strategy which will be available for comment later in the year.
If you have any questions about the Open Space Strategy please contact Recreation Services on 9524 3333, recservices@gleneira.vic.gov.au or visit the Have your say — Open Space Strategy website.
