Volunteers are an important part of the community and make a valuable contribution through a wide variety of organisations. Each year we hold a ceremony in recognition of their contribution to the Glen Eira community during National Volunteers Week in May. This year the National theme was “Thanks a Million”.
The 2013 Volunteer Award Ceremony was held on Thursday 16 May in the Glen Eira Auditorium.
A total of 49 different organisations nominated their volunteers, highlighting the diversity of volunteering in the municipality.
A total of 234 people were nominated for an award. Our 234 volunteers included:
Recipients were presented with a certificate of recognition and a badge specifying the award category by the Mayor Cr Jamie Hyams.
Entertainment was provided by the Caulfield Grammar School ‘Huxley Trio’ and Ms Alexis van Maanen led the singing of the National anthem. Local Scouts assisted on the evening with ushering and serving supper.
