Social support

Our Social Support Program provides frail older people and people with disabilities with opportunities for friendship and social activities in a supportive environment.

The Program is available for:

  • frail older people and people with a disability; and
  • carers of the above.

Activities offered include:

  • gentle exercises;
  • relaxation;
  • music therapy;
  • drama;
  • creative art;
  • discussion groups;
  • cooking;
  • woodwork;
  • craft activities;
  • gardening; and
  • outdoor activities.

Transport to and from the centre can be arranged via our community bus or a taxi. Morning and afternoon tea and a hot lunch are provided each day.

The Program is designed each day to cater for the particular needs of the given group in attendance.

Service cost

A daily fee is charged for attendance. This fee includes transport; activities; lunch; and morning and afternoon tea.

Accessing the service

A referral from a relative, friend or health or welfare organisation is required to access this service.

Funding is provided by the Commonwealth and Victorian Governments through the Home and Community Care (HACC) program to assist Council in providing these services.
