 2009 Winter Music Series - Archie Roach

Liyarn Ngarn (The Coming Together of the Spirit) is the name of this very special show. Archie Roach will perform alongside former Goanna frontman Shane Howard, his wife Ruby Hunter and son, Amos Roach, former Tiddas member Amy Saunders, Dave Arden and Ewen Baker.

Archie has recorded many albums and toured around the globe, headlining and opening shows for Joan Armatrading, Bob Dylan, Billy Bragg, and Tracy Chapman.

 Glen Eira Women’s Business Network - Keeping in the Money Flow

Keeping in the Money Flow — how to take on the personal challenge in good times and bad will be presented by Psychologist and small business coach Kaaren Hawkes, the meeting will discuss if it’s our mindset or economic outlook that influences business decisions and profitability.

Kaaren will look at some of these personal and collective beliefs which influence us in relation to money management.

She will also discuss:

• how women can prepare themselves to ride the waves that the business cycles bring;
• how women can empower themselves; and

Presented by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) this free session will cover some of the more common business income tax deductions in some detail, with worked examples to illustrate the calculations.

income tax deductions – general;
expenses you can claim immediately;

trading stock and other special deductions;
tax losses; and
keeping proper records.

 Develop and complete your own marketing plan in three hours

Presented by business coach and marketing expert David Wilson, this session will bring together all the aspects of marketing that were presented during Small Business Month into one usable plan.

Businesses participating in the three hour session will walk away with a completed, handwritten marketing plan.

Businesses are encouraged to send two members of their team and to bring along any marketing information about their business which may assist in compiling the plan.

A full set of templates and notes will be provided and all work completed will remain confidential.

 Environment Forum 2009

 2009 Winter Music Series - Silo String Quartet

Silo String Quartet was founded by cellist and composer Caerwen Martin in 1998 and is the only dedicated contemporary string quartet in Australia. Since 1999, Silo String Quartet has performed at the Melbourne International Jazz Festival, Melbourne Fringe Jazz Festival and Melbourne International Women in Jazz Festival and has worked with a number of artists including Fiona Burnett, Belinda Moody, Colin Hopkins and Quinsin Nachoff (Canada).
